Pastor James (Jim) Weiss is the assistant pastor at Leesburg Alliance Church. He was senior Pastor at the church from 1999 to 2016. Pastor Jim graduated from Toccoa Bible College in 1980 with a BA degree in Bible Theology and licensed the same year with The Christian and Missionary Alliance. He was subsequently ordained to the Christian ministry by the Alliance in 1983. He pastored a small Baptist church in Clayton, Georgia for two years after college, and then served Alliance churches in Clewiston and Titusville, Florida from 1981 to 1984. From 1984 to 1992 Jim served Friendship Bible Church of the CMA, Keystone Heights, Florida, as Bus Ministry Director, and from 1989 to 1992 as Outreach Director. During the same period (1984 to 1992) he also served as maintenance staff for Park of the Palms. In 1992 Jim and his late wife Joan planted an Alliance Church in Clayton, Georgia. Pastor Jim was Crusade Coordinator for the Jim Wilson Crusade in 1993 for the churches in Rabun County, Georgia.
From his first marriage to Joan, Pastor Jim has four children, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His wife Joan succumbed to cancer in 1995. In 1996 after Joan’s death, Jim began his pursuit of graduate level seminary training. He earned his MA degree in Bible Theology from Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions, Columbia, South Carolina in 2002. In 1997, Jim married Janet Gardner, and they moved to Leesburg in 1999.
Janet is the daughter of Andrew and Norma Gardner, C&MA missionaries in West Africa for 30 years. She lived in Africa until graduating from high school. Janet is a graduate of Nyack College in New York, and completed her masters degree at Bridgewater State College, Massachusetts. She returned to the International Christian Academy in Ivory Coast, where she had graduated high school, and taught first grade there for 10 years. She now teaches first grade at Integrity Christian Academy in Groveland, Florida. Her love is teaching first graders to read and seeing how exciting it is for them. Jim has pursued training in Clinical Pastoral Education as a chaplain, and continues his ministry at Leesburg Alliance Church as an Associate-Pastor. From 1999 to 2016 Jim was a volunteer chaplain at Leesburg Regional Medical Center (LRMC) and in 2016 was officially placed on their staff.
